Snails and Trails Team

Becky Bonzom

I am the proud Co-creator and Director of Snails and Trails Nature Program. I am a dedicated Early Childhood Educator and forest school teacher. I have studied at the AMI Montessori Training Center in Vancouver and completed my ECE certification through Pacific Rim Institute. I feel fortunate to have attended the Wild Wisdom course which was a 9 – month nature connection program which taught nature based skills and more, I as well had the opportunity to learn under Sharon with EartHand for a year about fibre, which taught stewardship, harvesting and processing as well as spinning and weaving. I have enjoyed over 10 years in this field and with Bayview Community Preschool, established what is now the thriving Bayview Nature Program, Advanced Nature Program, Jr. Stewardship Program as well as the Jr. Leadership Program:)

My passion is working with children outdoors and encouraging their curiosity and questions. Here they are able to explore the natural world by means of thoughtfully exploring with their 5 senses. I enjoy facilitating play and allowing them to take risks and experiment. Children make forts, get their hands dirty, socialize and it goes with out saying, they have soo much fun.

I have two daughters and know the joys of working with children, as well as their parents. I am passionate about Community and connection. I look forward to exciting summer adventures with Snails and Trails Summer Camp and their families.

Charlotte Gurney

My name is Charlotte Gurney, I am the co-creator and co-director of Snails and Trails Nature Program and a graduate of Douglas College’s Early Childhood Educator program, where I focused my studies on Outdoor Education. My Forest and Nature School Practitioners certificate, offers me the deeper set of skills to teach bow drilling, weaving, and other bush skills! I am a bee keeper and have been doing this since I was a little girl with my dad. I also have a certificate in American Sign Language, which allows me to communicate to a wider community. I am a kind, patient and creative person with a great love for the outdoors.

I have such a passion for Early Education, especially the Outdoor Nature Program and I look forward to meeting and having great adventures with your children this summer!
